About the Author

Dr. Brian R. Clement has directed the renowned Hippocrates Health Institute for more than three decades. He is internationally recognized for his relentless pursuit of complimentary health methods that support recovery and prevention of disease. For more than four decades, Dr. Clement has been personally involved in clinical research on a daily basis with the hundreds of thousands of people who have been through the program he developed and maintains. Research partners have included universities, physicians, and co-workers at the Institute itself. Many whole food supplement companies partner with Dr. Clement and Hippocrates in their pursuit to research the benefits of the products they offer. On several occasions, pioneering efforts have grown out of Clement’s passionate pursuit for excellence.

Dr. Clement employs his mission statement, to unify the vast world of health professions, to set a round table and encourage discussion among his peers and adversaries. He believes it is time to put the person/patient first and stop perpetuating narrow perceptions and condemnation of what we do not understand as professionals. As the incidence of disease increases, Clement’s determination equals it. His observation that catastrophic disorders are now affecting the youngest among us has him acutely concerned. When recently addressing a medical conference, he stated, “Disease is surmountable once we are willing to reengage sincere observation and utilization of the biological world that surrounds us.” Dr. Clement hopes this three-volume series, Food IS Medicine, will make both patients and practitioners aware of the large quantity of scientific data that documents how the food we eat can either be our best friend or our worst foe.
