This is a scene from the original manuscript of The Paris Winter, which at that point was called Glass City, where Yvette has been searching for Maud through the flooded streets, and witnesses the destructive power both of the flood water and of Maud’s obsession. It didn’t make the final cut, because in the end Maud’s ghostlike presence needed to be seen through Morel’s eyes rather than Yvette’s, but I hope you’ll think it has some good moments.
