About the Author

William C. Dear
Private Investigator

DURING THE LAST FIVE decades, William C. Dear has worked all over the world, including the continental United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Western Europe, the Orient, Asia, and the Caribbean, predominately on homicide investigations. He began his career as a police officer in Miami, Florida. In 1961, he opened his own investigation agency, William C. Dear & Associates Inc., in Dallas, Texas. He developed a private investigation video and text course that is nationally certified for continuing education credit. He has also produced a video homicide course and holds continuing education seminars on his ranch in Mt. Calm, Texas, where he has a complete and modern CSI room. Dear is a renowned and entertaining speaker at conventions, training seminars, workshops, and banquets. As a certified instructor in the field of homicide, Dear lectures and teaches law enforcement around the world.

William Dear was inducted into the American Police Hall of Fame on April 14, 1988, as a private investigator receiving the Archangel Award for the Milo murder case. He was also appointed by the court to the Exhumation of Lee Harvey Oswald in 1981.

Dear has received national and international acclaim on cases that made worldwide news coverage. Most notably, the Dean Milo murder in Akron, Ohio, which resulted in eleven arrests and convictions (the most ever in U.S. history for a single murder case).
