COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES

Once you’ve mastered this unit, you’ll be able to use Chinese to:

1.  Discuss with a friend where to go for a meal.

2.  Ask for the menu and order a meal in a restaurant.

3.  Talk about some common Chinese dishes, staple foods, soups, and beverages.

4.  Reserve a formal banquet in a restaurant.

5.  Arrange a menu for a banquet: cold appetizers, main courses, soups, desserts, etc.

6.  Discuss the names of some common flavors, seasonings, and condiments, and give instructions for how much or how little of each you want.

7.  Talk about some of the different cuisines of China.

8.  Discuss the names of common eating utensils.
