Dear reader,
Thank you for coming on this journey with me! I wrote the first draft of this book in two months—it just poured out of me. I wrote the first scene then the second and, suddenly, I got stuck. I stood up, walked once around my house, and Owen Dunham was born. I’d just needed that third character.
That was a stroke of wonderful luck, because at that moment, the idea was born: that there were three protagonists and three antagonists and they were all the same people, just depending on how you looked at it. I’ve continued that throughout the Vendetta Trifecta series, because I loved it so much.
Cyn, of course, is named so that Lee can mistake her name for “Sin.” But a lee is literally a shelter from a storm, and I had that in mind the whole time I was writing. Sin doesn’t grow … until she meets Lee and her life is jumpstarted again.
I have to give a special thank you to all the ninjas who helped me with this series. I had access to some MMA blackbelts and I would say, “What happens when someone comes up behind me with a gun? What do I do?” So much of the fight scenes were researched and played out! My husband let me attack him about fifteen different ways and often said, “But I would just do this to stop you...” and I would have to go back and figure out how Sin could win her fight. They made this book so much richer and I hope your breath caught and your teeth clenched and you stayed up late reading! If you did and you would do me the honor of leaving a review, that would mean the world. Thank you so much for coming on this journey with me and get ready for Retribution!
