One of the biggest challenges I had in writing this book was getting into the frame of mind of how someone who spends a large part of their life in the woods and a traditional Sheriff would think. As a city girl, my perspective was almost completely the opposite. Often, I felt like how an actor would - getting into the mind of their character to think, see, feel, hear, and react to things in the way someone that isn't me, would.
I owe a large part of that to Carrie East, a detective in Indiana who was more than gracious in letting me pick her brain. She's a woman whose passion for her job could be felt over the phone. I hope to take her up on her offer one day on writing the true-crime story of a serial killer she was a major part in capturing. Thank you Carrie, not only for your help with this book - but also for what you do on a daily basis.
My editor and publisher, Patti Hultstrand, knows how much I appreciate her and am grateful for her in my life. She cares about her authors more than anyone, and anyone who has the honor to work with her is truly receiving an amazing gift.
To Veronica Baxter, my amazing beta reader, thank you for reading this story and being so proficient in your feedback. I'm so humbled to have you as a friend, a beta reader, and someone who keeps me company during all the crazy author events. Especially thank you for being someone who totally thought my insane fangirl behavior at ComiCon was perfectly normal and acceptable.
Thank you Debbie Isbell for all your help with Clusters, and just being an amazing writing buddy and a great friend.
To all the local authors in Arizona who I tend to bump into at events quite frequently, thank you for being so fun, inspiring, and passionate.
It takes a small army to make a book happen - and my small army is probably the most gifted in the industry; Az Publishing, WOD Media, Platinum Footage, Lone Quail Media, Jolene Campbell, Jason Vollario, Patti Hultstrand, Song River, and the many faces and names who had a part in the completion of Clusters that I never even had a chance to meet and don't even know, thank you.
