Everything has come together monstrously well! Even though Nefera is totally coming unwrapped about our change in plans, I couldn’t be happier. With a ton of help from my ghoulfriends, we came up with the best theme idea for Mother’s welcome-home bash: a Come As You Are party!

Tonight, in true Monster High style, the de Niles are holding a gala that’s all about celebrating WHO YOU ARE, in freaky fabulous style!

Though I expected Father to cringe at the idea of un-glamming the party, he actually seemed relieved when I suggested it. He too was worried about making Mother feel unwelcome. Usually, Father says it’s his way or no way at all, so I was surprised he was willing to compromise on this ball. Perhaps he is finally realizing that loving someone who is very different from yourself can open up your world to some exciting new possibilities. I can see that my mom is softening my stiff and stern father already, and she’s been home for only a few days!

I think Mother’s arrival is really going to shake things up at the de Nile palace—I can’t wait to see what kinds of changes will come about over the next few years with her around again. I’ve often thought Father needed to step outside the comforts of his tomb more often and take a look around to see how much has changed in the world over the past few centuries!

I can’t wait to see the look on Mother’s face when she sees the party we’ve put together in her honor. I just hope she realizes how different this party is because of her. This event isn’t just a chance to celebrate her homecoming—it’s also a chance for us to show her that we’re willing to adapt our lifestyle and traditions to suit all the de Niles (unfashionable jeans and all!).
