CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE

‘Bye Dad!’ the kids shouted as they ran through the door.

‘You have the car keys?’ Jenny shouted after the kids.

‘Yes, Mom.’

Jenny pushed her head into the study. ‘Dropping the kids at school.’

‘Come here,’ Kenneth called. Jenny strolled into the study. Kenneth hugged and kissed her.

‘What was that for?’

‘I love you,’ Kenneth said as he held Jenny.

‘And I you.’

‘Can’t you just say, I love you.’

Jenny smiled and held Kenneth’s face in both her hands. ‘Kenneth Johnson. You are by far the most complex, contradictory, scary, cunning, kind, caring and softhearted man I have ever met. You are my heart and soul, my friend, my lover and the adoring father of my children. I love you more than you can imagine, and I shouldn’t have to tell you, because you know it in your heart.’

Jenny gave Kenneth a soft and tender kiss. Jenny pulled away as the kiss became very moist. Kenneth’s eyes were closed, and tears were rolling down his cheeks.
