Sawyer leaned back and watched as Kaeden and his cousins entered the bar Ax to the Heart.
His packmate had recently come to some kind of cease fire with his long time best-frienemy, Blake. And the entire pack had released a breath of relief. It wasn’t like their little rivalry had been horrible. They didn’t play mean tricks on each other or anything like that. No, they’d just had this weird sexual tension that never went away and always chafed against everyone’s nerves.
And now it was finally over.
Sawyer had spent most of the last two weeks going to bed with earplugs in because his bedroom was right on the other side of the apartment wall from Kaeden’s. And Sawyer’d rather not hear their sex-a-thons.
“Are you going to glower at them all night?” Hawk said as he slid into the barstool next to Sawyer. “I thought you were happy they’re together?”
“I am.” Sawyer snorted. “I just haven’t gotten much sleep the last couple of weeks.”
Anders the bartender placed a tumbler of brandy in front of Hawk and only responded to Sawyer’s statement with a wink.
Yeah… why was Sawyer complaining to these two? They’d each found their mates this past year. They were both stupidly happy. They were both unsympathetic to anyone who had to listen to sex through their walls every day.
But their next door neighbors could probably sympathize with Sawyer.
Mason would understand. Surely it wasn’t easy being pack alpha to a bunch of mated guys who only wanted sex like… all the time.
“Hey, Anders, could I get a couple of beers?” Keaton, one of Kaeden’s cousins, said as he walked up and stood very close to Sawyer. “I’m sure you have something new for Kaeden to try. I’ll have the same, whatever it is. Kiaan says he doesn’t care.”
When Sawyer had first met Keaton years ago, he’d been a bit of an ass. Always riding his cousins over stupid stuff. But he’d mellowed out a lot in the last couple of years.
As Anders nodded and started putting the order together, Sawyer did his best to not lean into Keaton and take a deep sniff.
Sawyer’s wolf seriously loved Keaton’s smell, and he always took the opportunity to take a whiff when he could. But Sawyer very much did not want to be a creeper, so he tried to rein his wolf in.
Tried being the operative word.
Sawyer managed to stay sitting up this time. Not leaning into the broad shoulders. Not laying his head on Keaton’s chest. Not grabbing the mage’s hand and dragging him off into a private corner.
Okay, yeah. Sawyer wouldn’t ever do that last one.
No matter how much he dreamed about it.
“What are you up to tomorrow?” Keaton asked.
It took Sawyer a few seconds to realize that Keaton was looking at him. Asking him. “Uh, tomorrow? Nothing. It’s my day off, and I don’t really have anything planned. I’ll probably watch a movie or two.”
“Oh! What are you going to watch?” Keaton’s face lit up with excitement.
“Not sure,” Sawyer shrugged. “I really haven’t planned anything.”
“How about you provide the snacks, and I’ll bring the movies?” Keaton grinned at him.
And because of that stupidly beautiful smile, Sawyer’s mouth opened without his permission and said, “Deal!”
