Chapter 69

The party lasted until the wee hours of the morning, but T-money left when Shi and King did. He left and went up to his room to think. Janell found nothing and there was no incident to make a big or little fuss out of.

When they left T-money sat in his room thinking about Shi, and their intermingled past. He knew he was in dangerous waters. He was the man responsible for the tombstone which read ‘Johnathan Freemen Iverson.’

He was T-money the man popularly known in the streets for killing her father whose murder went unsolved. Only the streets knew the truth, which technically was not the truth.

He knew her mother told her it was a stroke, but now he had no idea what she knew. Freemen, her brother, knew the truth; he had to. Though he sold his drugs, T-money thought it was a way for him to get close enough to avenge his father. Free knew his father had not died of a stroke, he was seven-years-old that night, and when he grew up and began running the streets all you had to do was ask, and anyone could have told him Johnny Iverson was killed by his best friend, Tommy Gibbs, better known as T-money. The streets talked loud and way too much.

If only they knew, T-money thought.

Janell came and found him after the party was over. “The girl said they’ll see you later and call if you need anything… I was happy to see you out there socializing, you need to do that more even if you’re going to leave your own party eight hours before it’s over.”

T-money looked up at Janell. He wanted to ask her if she knew who the girl with King was. He was sure she didn’t or else she would have said something. T-money decided to keep it to himself for a while.

“Yeah, I had fun,” T-money said with a smile.

“So what’d you think of our guest?”

T-money shrugged, “They have potential.”

“Yeah they’re smart, and so cute together.”

“Still think there’s any connection with Spencer?”

“Nah,” T-money said completely sure. “But I’m still interested in how they’re making so much off weed so fast.”

“You need me to do anything?” Janell asked. She was still in her bathing suit.

T-money was waiting for her to ask. “I want to know who Shi is. I want transcripts and her diploma if there is one, but I doubt there is.”

Janell lifted her eyebrow. T-money knew what she was thinking. The request was not unusual of him. She was ready to chalk it up to another of his projects and him being a stickler for education.

“I’ll have to do some digging for her name, she was only introduced as-”

“Shi. Scheyenne Henrietta Iverson,” T-money said looking for recognition in Janell’s face.

There it was.

Her green eyes widened, and T-money realized how much alike her and King looked because of the green eyes.

They stared at one another for a while and then she left. T-money knew Janell would work fast and probably have the records by the morning. T-money knew he would not be able to sleep. It was dangerous being in contact with Shi, but the situation had changed. Somehow fate brought them back together, and T-money was not one to defy fate. Besides T-money had big plans for Shi, though she didn’t know it.

But if she insisted on selling drugs T-money decided he’d have to step in. It was a dangerous game and if Shi wanted to be a drug dealer he’d make sure she knew everything and was the best drug dealer she could be.
