  1. When the novel begins, we see Maya turn down the opportunity to go on the incredibly popular dating show Real Love as the lead because she already has the life she wants. If you were offered a similar opportunity, would you take it? Why or why not?

  2. Maya has worked incredibly hard to give herself what many would consider “traditional” success: a high-powered job, a long-term partner, and a glamorous apartment in a big city. In what ways do you think Maya was fulfilled by this success, and in what ways do you think she was not?

  3. What did you think of Maya and Vaughn’s relationship at the beginning of the book? Did they seem happy? Why or why not?

  4. As Maya watches Delilah’s big decisions play out on Real Love as well as in real life, she reflects on her own life. Have you ever had a friend do or try something that made you think about something in a new way?
