K

I agreed to meet Justine down the hill in Fontana for lunch. I suggested Denny’s, but she knew a barbeque spot called Bigg Dane and Beale’s Texas BBQ down on East Ave. in a shopping center that also has Denny’s, Rosa Maria’s, Heritage Village KinderCare, a carwash and a gas station. Bigg Dane and Beale’s wasn’t hard to find. It’s the first business at the beginning of a strip mall in the southwest section of the shopping center.

I didn’t know what to expect, I never wanted to know about Justine, so I had no idea who I was about to meet. I’ve heard LaShawn describe Justine, but today will be the first time we meet. As I entered the small homie restaurant, I walked past people eating at dark brown tables with light brown chairs in the middle, a few people sitting in a couple dark brown leather booths on the right while others waited on long bench style seats with the same color of leather as the booths on the left.

I heard someone call out K, so I looked to my right and there was an attractive blond with a slim build sitting in the second to the last booth just before reaching the counter. She slid out of the booth and held out her hand. We shook hands as if we were both there for a business meeting and not what we were there for. She had on a dark blue skirt that I would guess came with a matching blazer and I white blouse. She stands at about 5'4 with a nice figure that fills that skirt out just right.

We both sat and I guess she could tell I’m kind of nervous.

“Well, let me start by saying, it’s nice to finally meet you. I’ve heard so much and seen a lot of pictures.”

“It’s nice to meet you as well.”

“I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve ordered a pound of rib tips. LaShawn says you love them. I also ordered the catfish plate in case you’d like something else.”

“That’s fine. Thank you. I’ve heard about this place but hadn’t been able to make it down here until now.”

“No problem. It’s the best I’ve had up this way.”

“So, are we gonna get down to it?”

“Sure! I just thought you’d might wanna make small talk and get to know each other a little bit before you hear me out.”

“We’ve done that now.”

“Okay! Well, here it goes.”

Justine brushed a strand of hair from in front of her eye and pinned it behind her ear and took a deep breath.

“I’ve known LaShawn about eight years. We dated off and on throughout, but over the last couple years we’ve grown closer than close. I know in my heart that she loves me, but she also loves you. She’s for sure not a gay woman, she’s bisexual. And I would never try to make her any other way.

I myself have had an occasional man to tune up certain areas a woman just can’t quite reach. 3 to be exact, so I know how it feels to have needs met by both man and woman.”

I nodded and Justine continued.

“La Shawn is a straight shooter and will tell you exactly where you stand, and I love that about her. She’s spoken about you throughout our relationship, so I already know you to be a great guy.”

I nodded again.

“Look! I’m gonna lay it out like this. I love LaShawn. You love LaShawn. She loves us both and it’s time for me to make the first move.”

“And what’s that?”

“I’m an open an honest woman who knows what she wants. I want what LaShawn wants. I want a relationship with her, but I also want my occasional tune up from a man. She’s talked about you a lot and I’ve seen numerous pictures, so I approached her with this idea that’s a win win situation for us all.”

“And, what’s the idea.”

She took another deep breath.

“I would like to make this about the three of us. LaShawn gets to be with the both of us without feeling like she’s torn between us. You get two women without having to lie about anything because there will never be anything that she or I won’t know. We wouldn’t be competing for the same man, and I get to be in a relationship with LaShawn and have a man as well that I wouldn’t have to get tired of after a while. If you’re half as good to me as you are with LaShawn I’d be happy.”

“Have you really thought this through? And what would happen if you get tired of it all?

“Yes, I have. We’ve talked and talked about this for a while. And If that day was to ever come about, we’d deal with it then. I’m sure I’d be the one to walk away and even though it would most likely hurt like hell, we would’ve probably all agreed it was time to move on.”

“Have you thought of how that would affect your family? What they would think?”

“I have. My family already know of my lifestyle and supports my choice. I’ve never hid who I was. I was once married at a young age and quickly had it annulled. I’ve had a few relationships with women and dated a nice amount of men before LaShawn was in my life, and now I’ve just gotten to the point where I can be comfortable in my bisexual lifestyle.”

I sat back amazed at the request being made. Not knowing how to proceed with any more questions. Justine smiled at me as I sat there puzzled on how to proceed.

“Don’t worry. Everything here has been talked about with LaShawn, she knows exactly what would have been said. There is nothing on your part to worry about, and if it doesn’t work out then it doesn’t. There are no secrets. I’m kind of a straight shooter also.”

Our order number was called, and Justine got up to go over and pick up our food to bring back to the table. She placed it on the table and asked what type of soft drink I’d like. Still in shock I told her whatever she was having.

I thought to myself how bad I needed to talk with LaShawn. This to me sounds crazy. I’m the guy who wants what my parents have, to be together for 35 years no matter what. So, this idea seems foreign, but I’ll sit here and let Justine ramble off ideas until we’re done and then take the ride back up the hill to my regular little life.
