This light dressing has a subtle spicy hint that is balanced with a touch of pure maple syrup and a citrus-y lime note. This dish enhances the flavor of many dishes, from the Tempeh Taco Salad with Chile-Lime Glaze to the Chile-Lime Tempeh Tacos with Green Apple Slaw , to the Cilantro-Lime Chicken . If you aren’t heating the oil, swap the avocado oil for olive oil to achieve a richer flavor profile.
1 tablespoon avocado oil
⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons lime juice (about 1 lime)
1 teaspoon pure maple syrup
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the oil, red pepper flakes, lime juice, and maple syrup. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
SUBSTITUTION TIP: To increase the heat, add another ¼ teaspoon of red pepper flakes. To decrease it, substitute the red pepper flakes for chile powder. While chile powder still contains ground hot pepper, it is tempered by other spices such as garlic and onion powder.
