ribbon rings

Kids love to dance and move to music, and it’s even more fun when they have a funky ribbon ring to wave around at the same time. You can take the ribbon rings outside and watch them flutter in the breeze.

If you don’t have spare curtain rings lying around the house, go on a hunt for the perfect stick instead.

hints and tips

Fold one end of the ribbon through the ring and secure the fold with tightly wrapped thread. Repeat for each length of ribbon.

You can use silk ribbon instead of satin ribbon for a more floaty effect.

Step 1

Start by cutting six lengths of ribbon. I used rainbow colours, but you can use whatever you have to hand. Each length of ribbon needs to be about 1m/40in long.

Step 2

This step is for grown-ups only. Heat seal both ends of the ribbon with a lighter in order to prevent the ribbon from fraying. To do this, hold the end of the ribbon a couple of millimetres away from the flame until the edge of the ribbon starts to melt.
