Personal reminiscences of Sloan’s later reactions and comments were written by Mrs. Helen Farr Sloan or taken from her notes by the editor. Others have been written by the editor for clarification of personalities and events. Whole days of the diary as written have been eliminated without ellipses in order not to make the book too long.
