You could think of this book thus far as an aerial tour of union with Christ. We’ve looked at it from varying elevations, but now it’s time to land and walk around. The reality of our heavenly participation needs to take root in our earthly lives.
Because Christ is real, our union with him needs to make a real difference in how we greet our neighbors and do our jobs. In order for the gap we spoke of in chapter 1 to close, union with Christ needs to change how we experience each new day.
It can be all too easy for “your life is hidden with Christ” (Col. 3:3) to become detached from our day-to-day lives, for this heavenly reality to remain theoretical and abstract.
How do we set our minds on our union with Christ each day so that it fuels our faith and propels us forward on our journey? Moreover, how do we keep our union with Christ in front of us throughout the day and over the years? How do we move these truths from our heads to our hearts?
How does union with Christ make a difference on a Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.?
Part 4 is dedicated to these questions.
