HI, IT’S SCOTT HERE. I hope you liked this little offering. I’m a bit excited because it’s the first Hayteswood story. If you haven’t figured it out yet, Hayteswood is a place where I plan on setting a lot of stories in the future. As I’m writing this, I’ve already finished the first draft of the second Hayteswood novel, called “Them from the Sea”. It’s set in another place on the planet – a small village called Skipford – and a little later than this story – there are automobiles.
A little explanation for you. Hayteswood is an alternative Earth that has occasional contact with Earth. This is why technology took a similar path when it probably shouldn’t. I mean, let’s face it, in a place where werewolves exist alongside various other strange creatures, there’s probably some things that should develop and others that shouldn’t, but let’s worry about this in subsequent books.
I think you’ve noticed there are some things that are different, like the temple Nolan performed in. Yes, gods are real things in this world, but not quite what you might be thinking of. Any Star Trek fans out there remember Q? Well, these gods are something like that, only they’re mortal.
I’ve been playing around with a tag line for this world. It’s something like: “Ever wonder where the bad gods go when they die? Welcome to Hayteswood.”
If you read the next story I put out you’ll be introduced to two more of the inhabitants of this world, the sea people and the sirens. I really like that story, maybe even more than this one.
If you enjoyed this, I’d like to hear. You can find me on Facebook – find Scott E. Douglas from Perth. I generally don’t ignore friend requests. I’d like to know what you think, and maybe what you’d like to see both in Hayteswood and Gardijon (my epic fantasy world and setting of the Darklands stories). I’ve also a steampunk world that needs a third book.
I’m planning to have a mailing list if you’re interested in new releases.
Oh, and yes, I did notice that I’ve left scope for a sequel. I didn’t intend to, but the questions of what’s going to happen next are there, especially with Tommy Toms. Let me know what you think.
