Another way to simplify your eating habits is to have only fresh fruit or fresh fruit juices one day a week.
I did this for years when I was single. I picked Saturdays because that was then the least demanding day of my week. I was usually at home, where I had easy access to the blender, and I could create the feeling of a “spa” weekend by relaxing and taking it easy.
After I got married, I switched my fruit day to Monday. Not only had the nature of my weekend changed, with a husband and an instant family, but eating only fruit on Monday seemed like a proper balance to the excesses of what was developing into our weekend pattern. Having nothing but fresh fruit one day a week certainly was a help in maintaining our weight.
Now that we’ve simplified our eating habits, we still have all-fruit days on a regular basis. One of our favorite treats is a drink made from an apple, a banana, a couple of oranges, and a handful of fresh strawberries or blueberries, or maybe a fresh peach. Obviously, any fresh fruit of your choice would work. We toss everything into the blender and press the button. It makes a fresh frappé that is a filling meal by itself. It’s so good it almost feels sinful, and it couldn’t be simpler.
