The cerulean warbler is a small, somewhat uncommon, short-tailed warbler of the high treetops, whose robust, buzzy warble is often the first indication of its presence. The male is bright cerulean blue above and on the head, white below and on the chin, and has dark gray-blue streaking along the sides, below a thin breast band. Females are pale blue green above with pale streaking below over yellowish-white sides. Cerulean warblers glean insects high in the canopy. The male (bottom) and female (top) are illustrated.
