Note Identification
Music is written using notes, and these notes are written on a series of lines called a staff.
The staff has 5 lines and 4 spaces. At the beginning of the staff is a clef sign. Different instruments use different clefs when writing and reading music. Guitarists use the treble clef. Each line and space correspond to a different tone, named after a letter in the musical alphabet. The notes in the musical alphabet are: A B C D E F G.
Each line and space on the staff represents a different musical tone. Tones are written using symbols we call notes, as shown in the example below. The note names are written below each note. The names of the lines and spaces need to be memorized.
