I can hear the shower running when I get to the bathroom door. I knock and wait for him to answer me. Nothing comes. I open the door just a tad.
“Clayton, can I come in?” I call out.
“Yup.” Comes through the shower door.
"I'm sorry you don't think I love you," I sit on the sink.
“Fuckin’ Vic.” He turns, so I can’t really see him for the steam. “That’s out of context.”
Changing my mind, I strip my clothes and get in with him. "So, then, you tell me what you meant," I wrap my arms around his waist as my head is on his back.
I feel his whole body sigh, as his hands lower to mine. “I just wonder if we’re going to be enough. I mean, even with Wayde and Adam coming, you’re still leaving people that matter to you. Me? All I got is you and Vic, but you and Vic, you got so much to leave behind.”
"I have Fred. I'm leaving behind Fred, but he promised he would come to visit a lot. Plus, I have a phone to call him. What bothers me the most is staying here without you and Vic. I'm going to be alone, but you'll have each other."
“This is all fucked up.” He snarls. “I hate that I feel like this. I hate that we have to leave you here.” He punches the tile in front of him.
"Hey, calm down. It's just got to be this way. I have to stay here until you find a place, at least. Then it’s still a matter of doctors and programs I need. The issue is, I've not been alone in months, and it scares me. Now I'm pregnant, and let's face it, I'm going to be living on junk food because my cooking could kill the baby and me." I try to joke. "Maybe it will be good for me. I'll be alone in California, so I'll need to learn how to do this stuff."
“Maybe we can get Wayde and Adam to come to stay here while we’re getting things ready for us out there. That way, you won’t be alone, too long.” His tension is so strong that I think I’d need a chainsaw to cut through it.
"Maybe, but they don't cook any better than me. I'll have the dogs, and we can do those video calls every night. So at least I can still hear you snore, right?"
“I don’t snore. That’s you and Vic. You snarl too and growl and grunt now. Are you sure you’re havin’ our baby and not a puppy?” He tries to chuckle, but it falls flat.
"You are the one in my ear, Mister. I promise you snore. It could be a damn dinosaur, and you'd still love it."
“Hell, yeah! Dinosaurs are fuckin’ cool. You give birth to a velociraptor, and I could so train it!” He turns to me, letting the water splash. Christ, it’s hot.
"Sorry about your luck, I'm pretty sure we're having a baby boy," I say with my hands on his chest.
His finger goes to my lips. “Shh—you just jinxed it. You may as well start picking girl names, now.”
"What would I do with a girl?" My hands go to my hips. His eyes roam over me, and a smirk starts to form.
“Certainly not what I would do.” He steps forward, pinning me to the shower door.
"Clayton, that's just wrong." I shake my head with a laugh. "Are you okay now?"
“No. But it will pass.” He bends down, kissing me as he lifts me by the ass, making my legs go over his hips. His cock teases me a moment before he drives into my center. “This will help.”
“I love you, Clayton Cross.” I kiss him as my fingers curl into his hair.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY of high school. Graduation is this evening. I wake with the boys because I sleep right beside the alarm. They’re up getting ready, and I’m lying in the bed with two dogs.
“I can’t believe they are making you go to school on the last day. That’s crazy. You won’t even be doing anything. You could be here with me in bed, all cozy.” I call out. Clayton’s in the closet and Vic’s in the bathroom.
“She kind of has a point, Clay.”
“What she should do is get dressed and come with us. They’re doing a huge barbeque in the quad and will be cooking all day. Besides, we’re getting our yearbooks. I didn’t pay thirty bucks to just leave it there.” He calls from the closet.
“They don’t want me there, and what would I do with the dogs? I’d also have to miss NA to go to school.” I say, scratching each of the dogs behind the ear.
“Just get your ass up and get dressed we want you there. Shouldn’t that be enough?”
“Yeah, it should, but there’s this one minor detail that you both are forgetting. I’m still getting all the looks from everything that has gone on.”
Clayton comes out. “If I let looks keep me from doing what I wanted to, we wouldn’t be together now.” He points to Vic then me. “Fuck how they look at you. They’re not getting out of here. We are, and I want to rub that and us in as many faces today as I possibly can.” He sits on the edge of the bed. “Come on, Honey. We can eat potato salad and binge on burgers and ribs. Make a stockpile for the pups.”
“I don’t have anything to wear. My boobs are getting too big.” I whine.
“So you wear one of my tanks, and some jean shorts, it’s gonna be like eighty degrees,” Clayton advises. “I’ll grab you one of them new sports bras Mollie got you.”
“Will this make you happy?” I ask Clayton.
He pauses and looks at me. “Anything that gives us an opportunity together makes me happy.”
“Fine,” I say to him, then look at the dogs. “They are stealing me for the day. Can you two manage not to tear anything up today?” Both dogs just lay their heads back on the pillows. “I’ll take that as a no.”
Climbing out of bed, I go to get dressed. They want me to go. I might as well go with what people are used to. Torn up jeans, a Radman’s tee, and plaid button-down with my chucks. I roll the sleeves up my arm as I go into the bathroom to brush my hair. The guys have gone downstairs to figure out breakfast since I’m going with them.
