Psalm 113:9

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

One of the deep and poignant sorrows we often find among members of the Church is the pain that a worthy woman feels in not being married or that an equally worthy married woman feels when she is unable to bear children. The spirit of this psalm has brought great peace to many, reminding us that the prophets have promised that God will not withhold any righteous blessing from the righteous women who will continue to walk by faith, continue to be true, continue to live with hope.

The promise to every worthy woman is that she will have a chance to marry in time or in eternity, and an equal promise to every worthy woman is that she will have an opportunity to “keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children” somewhere, sometime, someday.

We do not know all the particulars of how that is done or under what circumstances the miracle of that promise will unfold, but it will unfold. This promise is meant to be a great assurance to those who have worthy desires of marriage and children and family life with their eternal bonds of love.

Those desires will be realized. God has promised it. And it will be a joyful experience.
