“About A Fool Like Me” (05/31/79)
Well, I worked all day today
I earned a twenty dollar bill;
But I threw it all away
looking for a thrill.
Yeah, I dropped a quarter in the jukebox
a quarter in the pinball machine;
I bought myself a beer and popped the top
then wrote a song I couldn’t even sing.
I wrote about a loser
about a fool like me;
About an everyday boozer
and a love that couldn’t be.
Well, I work everyday
I earn twenty smack-a-roos;
But I throw it all away
trying to drink away the blues.
Yeah, I drop a quarter in the jukebox
a quarter in the pinball machine;
Then I buy myself a beer and pop the top
and write a song I can’t even sing.
I write about a loser
about a fool like me;
I never meant to lose her
but she wasn’t a fool like me.
