The Chains of Love That Seal” (08/22/77)

All the ties that bind us

the chains of love that seal;

The past that lies behind us

and the future that someday will.

It turns my heart to sadness, like the kiss of death it’s cold;

behind the smile and gladness, there’s hatred in my soul.

I bow my head in sorrow, the time is almost gone;

soon it will be tomorrow, and yesterday will be my song.

I’ll sing about the rose

I’ll sing about the pain.

I’ll sing about the woes

and the child that had no name.

I’ll sing about the heartbreak

I’ll sing about the slums.

I’ll sing for the heart’s sake

and wonder why it comes.

All the ties that bind us

the chains of love that seal;

The dreams we left behind us

and the ones we never will.

It turns my heart to stone, forever growing cold;

to know the one I love is gone, and her love I’ll never again behold.

All the ties that bind us, the chains of love that seal;

we can only hope tomorrow will find us living in a love that’s real.
