Does best in rich, moist soil but can adapt to dry soils as well, and thrives in clay soil. Prune close to the ground in early spring. Divide in late winter to early spring, every three years or so. Very resistant to pests and diseases.
‘Karl Foerster’ is a cultivar of feather reed grass that has become very popular—and no wonder, with its dramatic feathery plumes.
Its upright, vertical habit makes it useful as a border accent, as a backdrop for smaller plants. It is also a good choice to combine with late bloomers, as a counterpart to fall colors.
