In this tutorial, you will convert an imported solid body into a sheet metal part.
- Download the Tutorial_7. STEP file from the companion website.
- On the SOLIDWORKS window, click the Open
icon on the Quick Access Toolbar.
- Browse to the location of the downloaded file, and then double-click on it.
- Click Yes on the SOLIDWORKS message box.

- Click OK on the Import Diagnostics PropertyManager.
- On the CommandManager, click the Sheet Metal tab > Convert to Sheet Metal
.
- Click on the horizontal sheet metal face, as shown; the fixed face is defined.

- Set Sheet thickness to 2
- Set Default radius of bends to 2.
- Click the Colled all Bends button in the Bend Edges section.
- Click OK.
Notice that the Flatten icon on the CommandManager is now available. You can flatten the sheet metal model and create drawings.
