I placed the card down, grabbed the box, and set it in my lap. My heart raced in excitement, nerves pricking at my insides. Slowly, I tugged at one of the strands of ribbon, unraveling the bow.

No guy—besides Dad—had bought me a present before tonight.

But why? What had I done to deserve this?

Shaking my head, I forced all those little questions away. It didn’t matter right now. All that mattered was that, despite him ignoring me these past couple of days, we were getting back to where we used to be.

Somewhere good.

While humming softly to myself, I grabbed the present’s lid and smiled. Whatever this was … I promised myself I’d go find him and thank him, apologize for not hearing him out, for being so hormonal lately.

Excitement rushing through me, I pulled the cap off the box and stared down into it, eyes widening in horror when I saw Jett’s head.
