Making a dry rub is easy–and there’s no real rhyme or reason to it. We’ve been told stories of people emptying the contents of their spice cabinet into a large jar to create their “signature” rub. Our own spicy dry rub usually contains the key ingredients in equal measure. If you try it once, you may never BBQ anything without a dry rub again.
1 teaspoon chipotle powder
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 teaspoon iodized sea salt
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
1 teaspoon light brown sugar
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Mix spices together in a small bowl. Save any extra in a food storage container for up to a year.
Makes ¼ cup.
