POWDERED DISHWASHER DETERGENT

Making your own Powdered Dishwasher Detergent will leave your dishes chemical-free and save you money in the process! Lemon essential oil adds extra cleaning power and removes any lingering dirt and grime.

YIELD: 3 cups (about 48 loads)

1 cup baking soda

1 cup washing soda

12 cup citric acid

12 cup salt

20 drops lemon essential oil

14 cup liquid Castile soap (2 drops per load)

TO MAKE: Combine baking soda, washing soda, citric acid, salt, and lemon essential oil in a covered container. Mix well.

TO USE: Add 1 tablespoon of powdered detergent to your dishwasher’s detergent dispenser. Add 2 drops of liquid Castile soap to the compartment as well. Run as usual.

TO STORE: Store indefinitely in covered container in a cool, dark place.

TIP

Washing soda, also known as sodium carbonate, is found in the laundry aisle at your grocery or big-box store. Arm & Hammer brand is usually readily available.
