Sunscreens can be full of extra chemicals that can be absorbed into your body. Take the all-natural route and use natural ingredients that are packed with SPF protection. Carrot seed and myrrh essential oils are the best options for a natural SPF!
1⁄2 cup unrefined coconut oil
1⁄2 cup shea butter
2 tablespoons zinc oxide powder
20 drops carrot seed essential oil
20 drops myrrh essential oil
TO MAKE: Make a double boiler by simmering 1 cup of water in a pot on the stove. Place a metal bowl slightly smaller than the pot over the water, then add coconut oil to the bowl and stir to melt completely. Remove the bowl from the heat and add in shea butter. Stir until melted. Add zinc oxide powder and mix well with a hand whisk or a mixer. Allow mixture to cool until it starts to harden, approximately 30 minutes to an hour. Once mixture is cool, add essential oils. Using a mixer, whip beach cream for 3–5 minutes until it is creamy and ingredients are completely combined. Place in a covered glass jar.
TO USE: Apply to skin before heading into the sun. Reapply every 30 minutes.
TO STORE: Store for up to 1 month in covered jar in a cool, dark place.
