HOMEMADE LIQUID LAUNDRY SOAP

This eco-friendly, nontoxic laundry soap is easy to mix up and costs pennies per load! It uses tea tree and lemon essential oils to purify and lift stains.

YIELD: Approximately 5 gallons

1 bar Fels-Naptha soap

4 cups water

5 gallons hot water

1 cup washing soda

1 cup borax

1 cup baking soda

20 drops tea tree essential oil

20 drops lemon essential oil

TO MAKE: Using a food processor or a hand cheese grater, grate the bar of soap. Add to a pot on the stove with 4 cups of water over medium heat. Stir until soap is completely melted, then remove from heat. Fill a 5-gallon bucket halfway to the top with hot water. Add in soap mixture, washing soda, borax, and baking soda. Mix well. Add in tea tree and lemon essential oils. Fill the rest of the way up with hot water and stir. Place lid on bucket and allow to sit for 24 hours. Stir and add to smaller bottles if desired.

TO USE: Use 1412 cup of detergent for each load. Launder as usual.

TO STORE: Store indefinitely in covered containers.
