On the east side of the valley above Lenk two easy passes cross the mountains into the upper Engstligental. The Hahnenmoos was described in the opposite direction as Route 87, while the Pommernpass was also mentioned in that crossing. By linking these two passes, a fine loop trip can be achieved, which also gives an opportunity to visit the well-known Simmenfälle cascades. A bus is taken from Lenk to Hotel Büelberg, and at the end of the walk another from Oberried downvalley to Lenk.
From Büelberg (refreshments) follow the track easily up to the Hahnenmoos Pass (accommodation, refreshments). Bear right and walk along the east (left) side of the grassy ridge on a clear path that takes you to the saddle of the Pommernpass immediately below the lump of Regenboldshorn (2193m). This is reached in about 40mins from Hahnenmoos. Note: there are no signs indicating the Pommernpass. (A short diversion to the summit of the Regenboldshorn is recommended: there’s a steep but easy footpath and it will take only 10–15mins to reach the top.)
Descend on the south side of the pass, using the left-hand of two paths. This takes you steeply down over grass slopes passing haybarns and farms, then enters forest. At a junction of paths follow signs for the Simmenfälle. Do not cross the bridge at the top of the falls, but descend a track down to the Simmenfälle restaurant (refreshments) at Oberried. From there an hourly bus service travels downvalley to Lenk.
