In India we call this haldi doodh. It is very simple and involves milk and turmeric. We drink it for its health-giving properties and it has become the new big fad in the West. To make it sweet and more multi-dimensional in flavour, we add ginger and cinnamon to almond milk as a base.
250ml/9fl oz/1 cup almond milk
1½ tsp ground turmeric
½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp fresh root ginger, peeled and grated
1 tbsp honey
pinch of freshly ground black pepper
1 Heat the almond milk gently in a small saucepan set over a medium heat, taking care not to boil.
2 Add the turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, honey and black pepper and whisk gently until light and foamy. Pour into a mug and serve hot.
