Mia stayed on the floor for what seemed like an eternity. She wanted to talk to Neil and make things right but she knew she was torn because she had feelings for Lucas as well and he knew it.
Isla came out first.
“Mia, where are you?” she asked as she called out from the back.
“I’m down here,” she answered.
“Why are you on the floor?”
“I was trying to gather myself. I thought being down here I would be closer to God,” Mia laughed.
“Girl, get up. Why are you crying?”
“So many things. I’ll be alright,” she answered dusting her butt off.
“Well, I’m not going to lie. We kinda heard some of your conversation. We couldn’t help but hear it because y’all kinda got loud but sounds like things are complicated.”
“Not really complicated but stupid. I was stupid and wasn’t following my heart but my sexual needs. You know no sex or lack there of will cause you to do things you aren’t supposed to do.”
“A whole mess.”
“Sounds like Lucas got in a little too deep. You got that man doing fly bys. Shit what kind of pussy do you have because I need to get mine on that type of level,” Emery laughed.
“Shut up,” Mia laughed.
“Girl, that man came all the way from home to delivery a message to you. Shit pussy has to be A-1. Head or something is out of this park.”
“Why does sex have to be A-1?”
“Because conversation ain’t never made a man pull up on me like that. Pussy, yes. Conversation, no.”
“I can’t stand you,” Mia laughed.
“I’m only telling the truth. Everybody in here knows that, that’s why they aren’t saying anything.”
“So why did you cheat?” Ryan asking walking up from behind Isla.
“Sex.”
“For real?”
“Yes ma’am,” Mia answered honestly.
“Shit. I thought that’s what the sex toys were for.”
“That’s the main reason but because the communication was there.”
“Please explain more because I can’t believe it’s only sex.”
“I tried to talk to Neil about his sex but he didn’t want to talk about it. I tried for a couple of years. It’s been a while and he still wasn’t understanding.”
“How long?”
“Two years. I’ve been dealing with bad sex for years. I didn’t start cheating until a few months ago.”
“Why did you wait so long?” Randi asked.
“I was trying to be faithful. I thought he wasn’t taking my issue serious so I thought hell he ain’t listening so let me get my real heartbeat.”
“So, y’all had a complete conversation about this and still he didn’t listen?”
“Not at all. We haven’t had sex in months. I thought he would catch on but he didn’t.”
“You know men aren’t all there. It will take for another man to take their woman for them to understand that she’s gone.”
“Hell yeah. I hate it had to happen like this.”
“So exactly what happened?”
“I don’t really want to talk about it. Just know it’s some shit.”
“I respect that. You don’t have to talk about it right now.”
“I want to tell you all but I’m still confused about that situation. I can’t believe he came all the way here to tell me something like that.”
“I mean. You know men don’t have common sense. He wasted his time by coming here.”
“Isla, I’m so sorry about this. I didn’t know he was going to do that.”
Isla started laughing. “I was pissed earlier when Ryan had a visitor but I swear this has been a funny Saturday and we still have another day left.”
“Side dudes have gotten bold. This dating scene is an entire different ball field.”
“You got that right.”
“I swear I’m still shaking trying to process what just happened,” Mia answered. “Shit is going to be so different when I get back home but tonight and tomorrow I’m going to live like it’s my last. I’ll never understand why men think they can do what they want to with us and expect us to accept it. I know I messed up big time but popping up somewhere without even a phone call is not right,” she continued on.
“Whatever happens once you leave here was going to happen with or without your input. It’s going to teach you a lesson.”
“I already learned that. I’m keeping my pussy to myself until someone finds me that fulfills me sexually in the way that I want and deserve.”
“Amen to that,” Ryan agreed.
“The right dick will make you do some crazy things like marriage but I don’t think I would ever get on a plane to claim it, especially if I’m not the main chick. That man flew to you,” Isla answered.
“I’m just as confused as you are. It’s not like we’ve had sex a lot of times either. Maybe three in the last six months.”
“The power of the pussy. Your pussy out here changing lives,” Ryan laughed.
“Forget you girl,” Mia laughed.
“Let me borrow it so I can get a few million from these horny ass men,” Randi answered.
“I’m sure yours packs a powerful punch.”
“It hasn’t yet.”
“You haven’t touched the right one yet,” Mia answered.
“That’s probably it,” Randi agreed.
Deep down inside Mia wanted to run back home but she knew that wouldn’t fix her problems. Neil was there waiting to drop every bomb on her that he had gathered s the last couple of days.
“I’m going to take a nap,” Mia stated out of the blue.
“A nap? Girl it’s only 1 pm.”
“And I need that nap. I’m stressed the hell out,” she answered walking towards her room.
Ryan shrugged her shoulders. “I guess that means we won’t be going out to shop.”
“You all can go. I need time to process everything that just happened,” Mia answered.
“No, its a girls’ trip. We all need to be together.”
“If you can give me at least an hour. I should be good to go,” she lied. She knew that she needed longer than an hour but it would have to do for the moment.
“Ladies, we don’t need any more issues. Please tell your men, women, whatever that we need peace. I’m stressed and none of this stuff has happened to me.”
“Girl, we can’t help what these special ass men do. It’s not us. I promise you that,” Ryan answered.
“Call them to check in. I’m tired,” Isla laughed.
“I know. I’m tired as well.”
Emery looked around the room at the ladies and walked into the kitchen.
“I’m taking a shot. Who wants to join me?”
“Pour me a double,” Randi laughed.
“I need a double as well,” Ryan agreed.
Isla didn’t say a word only tapped her hand on the counter in agreeance with the shot taking.
“We’re back in that thang like we never left,” Emery laughed.
“Yes,” Isla sighed. “I need some strippers or something.”
“We can make that happen,” Ryan gave her a smile.
“Don’t start you mess.”
“I’m all about starting my mess,” Ryan laughed.
“Alright ladies. It’s time for these shots,” Emery stated as she poured her shot.
“Here’s to a great remainder of the trip. Getting rid of the fuck boys in our lives. Celebrating the great union of Isla and Edwin and making memories that only we can speak of,” Randi answered.
“I’ll drink, toast and dance to that,” Emery smiled.
“Here. Here,” all the ladies said in unison.
There was a lot of cursing going on from the burn of the liquor.
Mia could hear the conversations and laughter but she wasn’t in the mood to deal with it.
MIA: I know you meant well but coming here wasn’t the best decision. Especially after you didn’t call. How do you think it’s right if I popped up on your male weekend?
LUCAS: I know. I’m sorry. Can I see you tonight?
MIA: I don’t know. I’ll think about it.
LUCAS: I love you.
Mia almost dropped her phone on the floor when she got that last message. I love him but not like that, she thought getting up from the bed. She walked into the adjoining bathroom and stared at her reflection. “Is this the person that you have become? A cheater? A liar?”
Her thoughts were interrupted with a phone call.
“Hello!”
“Hey baby!”
“Well hey,” she answered smiling.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” she lied.
“I know I flipped out yesterday. I’m sorry.”
Mia took the phone from her ear and looked at the receiver. She couldn’t believe her ears.
“Hello!” he called out.
“I’m here,” she answered placing the phone back to her ear.
“You sound like you’re upset. What’s wrong?”
“I’m tired.”
“I know you didn’t go way to Mexico to be tired. Where are the other ladies? It’s too quiet,” he asked.
“I’m in my room. I came to get a nap but it’s not working,” she laughed.
“Hell naw it’s not. I didn’t mean to interrupt your nap though. I’ll talk to you later.”
“No, I want to talk to you. I appreciate you calling me.”
“Of course,” he smiled. “You’re my lady. I don’t know that other nigga wanted but he can’t have you,” he answered.
“Oh,” she whispered.
“Yeah. I don’t know why I thought it was going to be that easy.”
“Well you don’t have to worry about that. My heart is with you,” she lied.
“I know baby. I know. We all fuck up. I guess you got caught up in yours. It’s all good.”
“Something isn’t right,” she stated.
“Everything is everything.”
“What did you do, Neil?”
“The only thing I did was love my lady. That shit doesn’t always go as planned but I gotta get back right for real. We need to talk about our issues but if another man comes up to this house he isn’t going to walk away for real,” he explained.
Mia got quiet. She was nervous for herself and for any other male friend she had. She knew he was serious because he never talked like that.
“I know you hear me. Don’t get quiet now.”
“I hear you. I’m not trying to have an argument over the phone.”
“I’m not either. I’m just letting you know what the deal is. I’m tired of men trying me. I know it’s not his fault but shit these dudes are bold. I need you to understand me when I say this. Whatever beef we have going on with each other, I’m ready to fix it. I know I haven’t been listening in the past but I’m ready now. I’m serious too,” he stated.
Mia took a deep breath and sighed. She didn’t want to go there but he didn’t leave her any other choice.
“So you mean to tell me, it took another man coming to you to see that you have a person that you don’t want to lose.”
“No.”
“Why are you lying? I’ve been saying the same damn line for years and now you want to change, claim me. I’ve been doing the same shit for years now and this man comes along and here you go ready to change. I can’t believe this.”
“It’s not even like that.”
“Explain to me what it’s like? Because I should have left years ago,” she cried.
“Mia, calm down. I wasn’t trying to get you upset.”
“Why did you say all of that? Why are you doing this now? This could have been a conversation that we had at home.”
“I know. I’m being selfish for calling you but I wanted to let you know now.”
“I’ll talk to you later,” she answered before hanging up the phone.
“Wait. I’m not finished.”
“I am!” she yelled.
Mia paced the bathroom before she eventually cried herself to sleep. “Life isn’t always what you want it to be,” a voice said before she drifted off to sleep.
