Leigh Hudson loves Japanese knives. His store is mostly about selling exquisite ones, but on weekends, he runs knife skills and sharpening classes, as well as cooking classes for Japanese dishes, from sashimi to takoyaki (octopus dumplings).

LITTLE SPOONS
These 60-minute classes are for children aged two to teens. They run over eight-week terms, as well as a drop-in basis, class sizes are small and hands-on, with a healthy and educational focus.

The most popular class is seafood BBQ, however, school manager Roberta Muir always has Sydney’s finest chefs, including Chris Manfield, Mark Best and Matt Moran, leading hands-on classes where everyone sits down together at the end of the class to enjoy the fruits of their labours.
