Nocto, the ghost, opened his book cupboard.
He pulled out two books and blew the dust off them.
“These are just what I need for Squibbly,” he said.
Squibbly was asleep, as usual.
Nocto was angry. He turned off the tape player.
“It’s time you did some homework,” he said. “You need to improve your howling, shrieking and moaning!”
“If you want to be a scary ghost, you have to practise.”
“Do you remember the Ghost Docs’ song?”
“First I want you to do some howling,” he told Squibbly. “I’ll come back in an hour to test you!”
Squibbly opened one of the books. He looked for the easiest howl.
None of them looked very easy. But he chose one and started to howl.
Then Squibbly had a brilliant idea.
He looked through his tapes.
He found one that was blank.
He put it in the tape player.
Then he went back to his howling.
