The Jardin Des Plantes in Paris remains free and open to the public daily. Tickets to the Ménagerie, the zoo within the garden, are available online, as are tickets to exhibits and special events of the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle. To visit the restored Gloriette, Buffon’s forged-iron gazebo, follow the spiral path above the Grand Amphithéâtre du Muséum.
The Musée & Parc Buffon de Montbard occupies the site of Buffon’s former estate in Montbard, Bourgogne. Admission to both the grounds and the museum are free. From April through September, tickets may be purchased for guided tours that include access to Buffon’s writing studio and tower workspace.

A restored version of Linnaeus’s botanical garden and home, on the original site in central Uppsala’s Svartbäcksgatan district, is open for tours and events from the beginning of May through the end of September. During the rest of the year, the home (now a museum) is open only to groups with advance booking. Both guided and self-guided tours are available.

The estate of Hammarby, Linnaeus’s residence 15 kilometers (9.5 miles) southeast of Uppsala, has been maintained in a remarkable state of preservation, with Linnaeus’s original furniture and decorations still in place. Administered by the same organization, it is also open from May through September. The surrounding grounds, now a Cultural Heritage Reserve, are open year-round.
The library and archives of the Linnean Society of London may be visited by appointment Tuesdays through Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Viewings of Linnaeus’s original collections are limited, and must be requested a minimum of two weeks in advance.
