Dear Triple A,

Believe me it’s taken a long time to finally write this letter. As you know, denial is a powerful emotion. We convince ourselves that we really don’t have a problem because we think we can stop whenever we want. And the problem is especially magnified if you’re a known person.

So I’m finally swallowing my pride and reaching out to your fine organization. I know that AAA has saved many a lost soul like myself. I didn’t join previously because I thought it was a sign of weakness, but now I’ve seen the light. Could you please send me a list of locations in my area where you conduct your meetings?

Also, I’ve seen your stickers pasted on the bumpers of your members’ cars. Please enclose one in my “welcome aboard” package. It’s going right on my bumper because I’m not ashamed anymore.

I’m aware that if an AAA member slips up and gets in trouble while driving, you provide roadside assistance. I’d like to sign up for that service, too. (Better safe than sorry). That’s about it for now. I’m on the road to sobriety.

Takin’ it one day at a time,

Gabe Kaplan

PS Just out of couriosity, before he quit, what was Bill W’s favorite drink?

Hello,

I think you are getting AAA mixed up with AA. AAA does not provide an counseling and AA does not provide towing. Please let me know if I can answer anything else.

And by the way, I have no idea what Bill W’ s favorite drink was.

Sincerely,

CSAA Support Team
