Step #10: Your E-Security
Your online security is becoming more and more important and needs to be taken very seriously. Frequently, we hear in the news that another company has been hacked. Although this isn’t something you can control, there are steps you can take to protect yourself.
Many companies offer credit protection which monitor your credit and notify you if there is any suspicious activity. This is a great way to monitor changes in your credit.
If you are attentive when it comes to online security, then you have probably set up unique passwords for each of your accounts. The problem then comes in trying to remember all those obscure random combinations including capitalization, symbols and numbers.
Rather than jotting down every password on a Post-It note, it is much more effective to establish a password manager to keep them secure for you. For example, Dashlane and 1password are two companies that provide this service. After you create a password with one of these two companies, all your passwords are stored. Then, each time you visit a website, the program will automatically log in you with one universal password. They also allow you to download an app on your smartphone or tablet.
You’ve accomplished a lot now that you have completed all ten steps. Congratulate yourself, but there’s one more bonus step I’d like to add. This is the most important step and it’s all about you.
