Part 5: A Bodacious Ride

image

I made it back to work on time, but I was really starting to feel the effects of not sleeping all night! Still, the excitement of what Calvin and I had done was keeping me going, for the time being at least. I had a laundry list of tasks that I needed to accomplish today, but unfortunately, none of them had me working near or around the carousel. But I figured that this was a good thing. After all, it would be rather suspicious if I was hanging around the area when everyone was trying to figure out who had modified the ride.

There was a small potential that no one would be allowed to ride the ride at all because of what I had done. However, I had gambled that would not be the case. I knew the people who were in charge of that ride, and they weren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. I figured they would see the changes and assume that Mr. West himself had authorized them, with letting them know. And since no one wants to cross the boss, they would let it go at that.

It turns out my theory was totally correct! I was on the opposite side of the park, repairing a leaky valve on the pirate-themed water ride when I heard Calvin's voice calling my name.

“Fin! Finley, dude!”

I spun around, feeling a mixture of fear and excitement.

“What is it? Is it working? No one has died yet, right?” I blurted out.

“Chill, bro, it's all good,” Calvin said with a chuckle. “I just came to get you because I figured you'd want to see what's happening.”

Calvin escorted me to the other side of Happytown. But as we drew closer to where the carousel was located I began to see that something was very different. There was a thick cluster of people gathered around the ride, and a long line of Roblox people waiting to get on! The carousel was a decent ride, but it had NEVER been this popular! Calvin and I clambered up on some boxes to get a better view of the ride itself.

“It's running even better than I expected!” I exclaimed.

Indeed, the ride looked amazing. It spun much more smoothly than it ever had, and faster too. The people on the ride had control over their horses and could bounce them as high or fast as they desired. They were having a blast, and many of them were hurrying to get back in the line for another ride as soon as they got off.

“Bro, you're a genius!” Calvin said with a whoop.

“I wouldn't go that far! But thank you all the same.” I said with a laugh.

“No, I'm being serious! You've transformed this ride! You made it something completely bodacious!”

“You think so?”

“No doubt, my man. The only question I have now is what ride are we going to tweak next?”

“That is a great question, and I actually have-”

I stopped short. From the far side of the plaza where the carousel was located, I heard gruff shouts.

“Out of my way! Clear a path! What's going on here!”

I grimaced. I knew that voice and who it belonged to. Sure enough, Mr. West was pushing his wide body through the crowd, making his way towards the carousel. My moment of judgment was here.
