Title: Printed copies of books
Post by: cultured_orangutan on January 17, 2017, 07:27:47 AM
Hi there,

I have a some print copies of books and would love to upload them. I can try and locate files elsewhere of the books to upload here. If I cannot find these files what would be the best way to go about creating an epub file of them? Is there a walk through somewhere anyone likes best about converting books to digital formats? What would be the cheapest way to set this up? I don't mind piecing something together from used, or differnt new parts either.

The books I have to upload are mainly on psychdelics, and Alaska Native culture.

Do I understand correctly that you have physical books and you want to digitalize them into epubs to upload them here. That will be great, but might not be trivial.

I have not much experience with it, but there is a big community of people building their own scanners:

Usually the result is a pdf that you need to convert to epub, AFAIK no tool is really good for this and it requires some manual editing. I'm sorry but I don't know good tools to edit epubs. Maybe some people in this forum can help here.

Could you please post here the link once you are done? I would be interested in psychedelics in the Alaska tradition

The "Text Fairy" app enables you to scan text from your camera.
It's a really good, but not very efficient method because you have to sit there and physically scan each page with your phone.
