• This edition binds together two classics written just years apart: David Copperfield (1849-1850) and Bleak House (1852-1853).

David Copperfield

Dickens’ wry tale follows David Copperfield as he grows up in Suffolk, England six months after his father’s death. His mother remarries and there is much to dislike about his new step-father Edward Murdstone and his spinster sister Jane.

After one particularly severe beating, David fights back and is sent to boarding school as punishment. David is later sent to work in a London factory. He eventually runs away to find his only living relative.

Bleak House

Anyone who needs a lawyer should read Bleak House. Dickens’ brilliant story revolves around the estate of Chesney Wold, where Sir Leicester Dedlock and Honoria reside.
