Secretly, Maitland harbours the thought that one day, he will be caught and tried for murder so prepares for his anticipated incarceration by morphing into the personality of a psychopath. His fears are founded when the Detective in charge of the case becomes suspicious when he sees Maitland enjoying life too much, too soon.

Despite Maitland’s evil streak, he has a conscience. He fights cases and entertains new clients, clients like Mary, a scientist whose company develops scalar-electromagnetic technology that can save lives - or destroy them. Maitland falls for Mary as they share his Utopian vision and spiritual revelations with the aid of psychedelic mushrooms.

But then, Karma's a bitch when you live by the law, and none more so than in Maitland's case, particularly when one of the all-girl hit squad returns to blackmail him.
