Splinter Skill

Adeline Parker is training to become a police officer like her father. As strange things continue to happen around her, she learns that she doesn't know as much about her father, or herself, as she thought. As a sane person, she never imagined that mythological creatures could be real. Then she learns that she is descended from a line of Vjesci, who were hunted to near extinction five hundred years ago. Adeline begins to explore her dhampir roots and the inherited splinter skill awakening in her blood.

Peter De la Cruz, one of her closest friends, has been trying to keep Adeline away from the supernatural world for years, but when danger repeatedly comes looking, he's not surprised when Adeline throws herself in front of it. Now they'll have to protect each other and stop the monsters hunting them before they or anyone close to them get hurt.
