Donald Edwin Westlake (July 12, 1933 – December 31, 2008) was an American writer, with over a hundred novels and non-fiction books to his credit. He specialized in crime fiction, especially comic capers, with an occasional foray into science fiction and other genres. Westlake is perhaps best-remembered for creating two professional criminal characters who each starred in a long-running series: the relentless, hard-boiled Parker (published under the pen name Richard Stark), and John Dortmunder who featured in a more humorous series. Early in his career, Westlake wrote short fiction for mystery and science fiction magazines. “Short Stories Collection” contains12 short stories originally published in US science fiction magazines between 1954 and 1961. The book includes the following stories:
“OR GIVE ME DEATH”
“FLUOROCARBONS ARE HERE TO STAY!”
“AND THEN HE WENT AWAY”
“JOURNEY TO DEATH”
“BIRTH OF A MONSTER”
“TRAVELERS FAR AND WEE”
“THE RISK PROFESSION”
“CALL HIM NEMESIS”
“THEY ALSO SERVE”
“THE SPY IN THE ELEVATOR”
“METEOR STRIKE!”
“LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP”
