In the dark winter of 1555 the flayed bodies of young women are washing up on the banks of the Venice’s canals. When Angelico Vespucci, whose portrait was painted by the Italian master Titian, is discovered to be the monster responsible for these horrific crimes, he inexplicably vanishes along with the painting. All that remains was the chilling warning that when the portrait emerges, so will the man. Now, the lost Titian masterpiece has surfaced in modern-day London, and skinless corpses are amassing all around the world. And it will fall to Nino Bergstrom, the adopted son of a retired art dealer, to unravel half a millennium of myth, mystery, and murder.
