When Uncle Rubic takes Allan stream fishing to improve his depression a flash flood washes the two down a rocky mountainside. A boulder pins Rubic to the embankment and he won’t wake up. Allan drags himself through dense forest to get help.

Allan realizes he’s no longer in the same forest. The trees are taller and thicker, the plants have different foliage and otherworldly flowers. Confirmation comes when a dozen, angry, six-inch creatures and a girl in hand-stitched leather clothing, brandishing a sword threatens to sell Allan to a slave trader. Glowing, floating, jellyfish-like creatures fill the valley on a thousand year journey and Allan desperately grabs hold of a tentacle.

The creature doesn’t take Allan back to his camp. It carries him to a huge city segregated by a canal system and populated by intelligent beings with beaks and feathers, snouts and fur and stranger features.

With the help of the Queen of Hetphants and Mizzi, an inventor that has a fifteen-foot long tail, Allan survives the ruthless Killian Crow.

The strange world has more in store for Allan. Jibbawk, whose body consists of a thousand subservient, poisonous beetles, corners Allan in the ruins of a building. There is only one way to survive this monster. Allan has to overcome his preconceived limitations so he can help Mizzi retrieve a key that unlocks the Jibbawk’s tomb. If Allan succeeds, Mizzi will help Allan get back to Earth to save his uncle.
