Jack Olivares, a medical examiner from Albuquerque, blows into the dusty town of Santo Milagro to repay a debt to his father's friend Sam. His plans are foiled when he discovers that the spunky, gun-toting cowgirl is his cousin.

They are getting to know each other and trying to solve their familites' mysterious estrangement when a local rancher is murdered.

Sam thinks Jack is the answer to her prayers until he arrests her best friend, then the gloves are off!

The unlikely pair must work together to unravel the intricate web of lies, greed, and revenge before the murderer strikes again.
