RABINDRANATH TAGORE [1861-1941], also called Gurudev, was a Bengali who wrote poems, novels, essays, short stories, travelogues, dramas, and songs. He was also a visual artist. In 1913, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature—becoming Asia's first Nobel Laureate.
