For hired killer Sparrow, the task seems simple, if unusual: protect an heiress living in a backwater town. However, it soon becomes apparent that something is very, very wrong in the little colony of Crimsonfield.

Small town life is unraveling in a whirlwind of danger, deception and lust, and with the body count steadily rising, it soon becomes clear that something terrible is stirring in the dark corners of the suburbs. Buried secrets and vices threaten to tear the community apart, and at their center is Mister Stripe - a ruthless, calculating murderer who appears to be able to disappear at will.

All paths lead to the impossible, and what remains is for Sparrow, along with struggling illegal immigrant Gabe, and a disgraced cyborg police officer named Six, to struggle for survival in a town where the laws of physics fear to tread.

But the question remains: who is more dangerous - their enemies, or their allies?

Crimsonfield is the debut novel from sci-fi author J.W Close, and the first in a series of books exploring humanity, psychology and technology against the backdrop of Earth, 4000AD.
